In this work we were asked to determine bottlenecks and crowding situations in two scenarios (2007 and 2017) of the Plaza area in the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. The client Schiphol Group needed to assess the impact of an increase of 30% of visitors, changes in the stores layout and the impact of the introduction of turnstiles in the access of train platforms. The simulations consisted of a walking area of 80.000m2 using the projected demand of a typical day with 230.000 pedestrians.
